Notice & Takedown Policy

Notifying the University of Lincoln

If you find material which you consider illegally held or published on a University of Lincoln website please contact us and supply the following information:

  • Your contact details;
  • Full details of the material;
  • The web address (URL) where you found the material;
  • A statement that, under penalty of perjury, you are the rights owner or are authorised to act for the rights owner.

What Happens Next?

The procedure is then invoked as follows:

  1. The University of Lincoln will acknowledge receipt of your complaint by email or letter and will make an initial assessment of the validity and plausibility of the complaint.
  2. If plausible, the material will be immediately removed from the University of Lincoln website pending further investigation.
  3. When possible, the University of Lincoln will contact the individual(s) responsible for publication of the material and notify them it is the subject of a complaint. Details of the allegations will be passed on and the individuals will be encouraged to address the complaint concerned.

Outcomes

The University of Lincoln aims to resolve any issue swiftly and amicably with the complainant and to the satisfaction of both parties. After a complaint has been received and the three actions have taken place, the complaint may result in the following possible outcomes:

  • The material is replaced on the University of Lincoln website unchanged;
  • The material is replaced on the University of Lincoln website with changes;
  • The material is permanently removed from the University of Lincoln website.

If the University of Lincoln and the complainant are unable to agree a solution, the material will remain unavailable through the University of Lincoln until a time when a resolution has been reached.
